Wolves Cross Country Summer Training

Hit the Roads and Be a Road Warrior!

Desire, Dedication, Determination, Dream

Why should we all do summer training?

All of us should want to be the best runner we can be. However, we cannot be the best runner we can be if we begin our training in the fall. If you want to be the best runner you can, you must begin training in the summer months.

I like to compare summer training to the building of a new house. You begin building a house by laying a foundation of cement. The cement forms a strong foundation for the house. The cement gives the house strength and prevents the house from getting weak and failing.

Running during the summer lays the foundation for your entire cross country season. It provides you with a strong base that allows you to accomplish more in the early portion of the season, ultimately helping you later in the season for the big meets. Summer training also prevents injuries that can make your season less successful and frustrating.

When thinking of past athletes, the most successful runners and competitors were committed to summer training. They had the desire, dedication, and determination to carry through with their summer training regimen.

If you commit to summer training you are helping yourself be the best you can be. If you DON'T commit to summer training you are letting yourself down and also your teammates who are counting you you to be your very best.

Detailed workout letters will be sent in June. The letter will review the importance of summer workouts.

A final thought related to summer training: "Failure to Prepare, Is Preparing for Failure!"
